Yoga Foundations

Six Sundays - February 3rd - March 10th, 2019 - 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Whether you are brand new to yoga or have been practicing for some time and are searching for more refinement in your practice, this course will help to build both confidence and understanding of the essential building blocks used in yoga.

During this six-part series, we will cover the functional principles of movement and breathing, systematically exploring yoga poses and techniques that increase range of motion, unwind patterns of chronic tension and strengthen underutilized muscles. Through active practice, demonstrations, and discussion, we will integrate essential elements of physical alignment, foundational breathing techniques along with key principles of yoga philosophy that lend further support to our practice. This class is sure to be informative and inspiring for all.

This course is intended to be accessible for all levels of practitioner and will provide appropriate challenges and adaptations for each participant, facilitating a positive and nurturing experience.

Kirtan - Bhakti Yoga and The Bhagavad Gita

March 17th - 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

In this workshop we will share the time-honored practice of Kirtan, one of the primary practices of Bhakti Yoga. Through call and response chanting, stories from Hindu mysticism, and exploring themes presented in The Bhagavad Gita, we will offer our sweet intentions, listen to the softening of our hearts and nurture our capacity for loving selflessly. This workshop is open to all, no experience necessary.

Foundations of Meditation in the Yoga Tradition

Three Sundays - April 7th thru April 21st, 2019

Through meditation we can learn to calm our mind, focus our attention, and develop a deeper understanding of ourselves. As this process matures, it helps us to foster compassion, loving kindness, and a sense of greater fulfillment in our lives.

This three-part series will explore the time-honored methodology outlined by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, guiding us as practice yoga techniques that help us sustain our attention, balance our nervous system, and create a richer connection to our highest potential. Through breath-centered yoga poses, pranayama, and guided visualization, we learn to find peace and unfettered happiness in the present moment.

This workshop will provide useful tools for all experience levels and is intended for anyone interested in yoga and meditation. No prior experience is necessary.
